How to press a ready-to-press DTF transfer
The transfer arrives cut to size, powdered and cured. Heavy pressure, 8 to 10 seconds, peel right away or after it cools.
- Set your press280°F for 100% cotton, 260°F for blends, 240°F for 100% polyester, heavy pressure. Lint-roll the garment, and pre-press for 5 seconds if it is wrinkled or damp.
- Position and pressLay the garment flat, transfer print side down. Press with heavy, even pressure for 8 to 10 seconds (3 to 10 seconds on 100% poly). Heat tape helps on hats and odd shapes.
- PeelInstant or cold, your call. Peel right away or let it cool until you are ready, then peel slowly from one corner. If it does not release easily, let it cool completely and try again.
- Second pressCover the design with parchment paper and press again for 8 to 10 seconds (3 to 10 on poly). This locks in durability, softens the feel and removes shine. Want gloss? Use a Teflon sheet instead.
Did not transfer? More pressure and 5 more seconds, then raise the temperature 10°F at a time. Full tips, troubleshooting and wash care are on our how to press page. New material? Do a test press first.

What is a ready-to-press DTF transfer?
A finished heat transfer of one of our designs, printed to order on instant peel film with 9-color RGBO ink, powdered and cured. You pick a size, press it on a garment with a heat press, peel the film and it is done. No artwork, no setup, no minimum.
How do the sizes work?
Each size is the longest side of the design in inches; the other side follows the artwork's proportions. The names (Large Pocket, Infant, Toddler, Youth, Adult) are a guide for a standard tee print. Measure the space on the garment and pick the size that fits it.
Which size do I need for an adult shirt?
A 10 inch front suits adult small to large, 11 inch suits XL to 3XL, and 12 inch is a full back or an oversized front. Youth fronts are 8 to 9 inches, toddlers 6 to 7, infants 5, and left chest or sleeve prints 4.
Can I get this design in a different size or in bulk?
Yes. Every ready-to-press design is in the gang sheet builder's library, where you can size it to the inch, repeat it as many times as you like and mix it with other designs on one sheet at our lowest price per inch. Transfers by size also lets you order any size and quantity of a single design.
What temperature do I press at?
280 degrees F for 100% cotton, 260 for blends and 240 for 100% polyester, with heavy pressure for 8 to 10 seconds (3 to 10 seconds on poly). Pre-press for 5 seconds if the garment is wrinkled or damp, and finish with a second press under parchment paper.
Instant peel or cold peel?
Either. We print on instant peel film, so you can peel as soon as the press opens or let the garment cool until you are ready. Peel slowly from one corner, then do a second press with parchment paper for 8 to 10 seconds.
How long do the transfers last?
60 or more washes when pressed as directed. Wait 24 hours before the first wash, then wash inside out in cold water, tumble low or hang dry, no bleach, and never iron directly on the print.
How fast will my transfers ship?
Orders are printed and shipped within 24 hours on business days from Ellinwood, Kansas. UPS Ground reaches most of the US in two to three days. UPS 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air are available at checkout, and shipping is free by UPS Ground on orders of $75 or more.
Can I sell shirts made with these designs?
Yes. The designs are ours and the transfers are sold for decorating garments you sell. They are not licensed sports, school or entertainment artwork.
What if something is wrong with my order?
Contact us within 30 days. If a print is wrong because of something we did, such as a print defect or a shipping error, we reprint and reship it at no cost. Send a photo and your order number to support@armorink.com and we will sort it out.
