ABOUT THIS PART

Stocked by a shop that uses it

This is the moisturizing liquid that keeps a parked DTF printhead from drying out. When the printer caps the head, the capping station is supposed to hold a wet seal around the nozzles. If the cap sponge dries, air reaches the nozzle plate, the ink in the nozzles thickens, and the next nozzle check shows gaps. A few milliliters of this liquid on the cap sponge keeps that seal wet overnight and over a weekend.

It is especially useful on printers that sit idle for hours between jobs, and on white ink, which dries faster than the colors. Shops that leave the printer for days use it alongside a daily circulation or nozzle check to keep the head alive without a full flush.

It is not a cleaner. If a channel is already blocked, use the nozzle wash to clear it first, then use this liquid to stop it happening again. Apply it with a lint-free swab or a syringe directly onto the cap sponge, never onto the nozzle plate itself.

Sold in a 100 ml bottle, which lasts a single printer for months at a few milliliters a day, and a 1 L bottle for multi-printer shops. Ships from our Kansas warehouse within 24 hours on business days.

Clean, wet, park

How to use the moisturizing liquid

  1. Clean the cap firstWipe the capping station rim and sponge with the nozzle wash on a lint-free swab. Dried ink on the rim breaks the seal, and no amount of liquid fixes that.
  2. Wet the spongeDrip 2 to 5 ml onto the cap sponge with a syringe or a swab. Enough to keep it wet, not enough to pool over the rim.
  3. Park the headReturn the carriage so the head caps on the wet sponge. Check that the cap lifts fully and seals; a tilted cap lets air in on one side.
  4. Repeat dailyMake it the last step of the day. Over a weekend, re-wet the sponge before you leave and run a nozzle check or a short circulation when you are back.
  5. Check before printingRun a nozzle check in the morning. If white is slow to come back, one clean cycle usually does it; if a channel is blocked, switch to the nozzle wash.

Apply it to the cap and wiper, not to the nozzle plate. If your printer has a moisturizing tank, fill that instead and keep it topped up.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

Will these fit my printer?

The nozzle wash, moisturizing liquid and swabs work with any DTF printer built on an Epson printhead, which is nearly every desktop and roll DTF printer sold in the US (I3200, I1600, XP600, DX5, DX7, TX800, 4720, 5113 and the rest). The damper and the head cable are specific to Epson i3200 heads; for the cable, match the pin count (14) and length (60 cm) to the one you are replacing. Not sure? Send us your printer model before you order.

Nozzle wash or moisturizing liquid, which do I need?

The nozzle wash cleans: dried ink on the nozzle plate, the capping station, the wiper, and clogs in dampers and lines. The moisturizing liquid prevents: it keeps the capping station wet so the head does not dry out while the printer is parked. Most shops keep both. Use the wash to fix a problem and the moisturizing liquid every evening so it does not come back.

How often should I replace the dampers?

Every three to six months is typical, sooner for white ink and later for the colors. Replace a set early if a channel keeps failing a nozzle check within an hour of cleaning, if you see light bands in solid white, or if a channel is pulling air. An i3200 head takes four, and most shops replace all four together.

How do I know it is the head cable and not the head?

A cable problem wanders: missing nozzles that move around between checks, a channel that drops out when the carriage is at one end of the rail, or a head the printer stops detecting. A damper problem stays on one channel. The cable is cheap and quick to swap, so try it before you suspect the head.

Can I use the swabs on the nozzle plate?

Only to blot, with a fresh swab wet with nozzle wash and no pressure. Never scrub the nozzle plate; let a soak and a clean cycle do the work. The swabs are for the capping station, the wiper, the carriage and spills.

Which bottle size should I buy?

The 100 ml bottle covers routine daily upkeep on one printer for months. Buy the liter if you flush lines regularly, run several printers, or store printers between seasons. The liter works out to roughly a third of the price per 100 ml.
